Frequent Questions
What kind of websites can I add to my planet?
Any website that updates content frequently: blogs, newspapers, flickr albums, twitter accounts, etc.
Can I put Flickr, Twitter and that kind of stuff in my planet?
Sure you can. If it's on the internet and it's 'alive' chances are that it will work on Planetaki. If it doesn't and you cannot live without it, drop us a line and we'll hang your email on our to-do board.
Why do some websites just don't work?
Planetaki can read websites that update content frequently (blogs, newspapers, flickr accounts, etc.). Some websites just don't provide the information we need to know when new content is displayed. We're working to try to be able to provide updates of any website, but are not quite there yet.
Sometimes adding a website is way too slow. Will this change sometime soon?
Yes, we are aware of it. Optimisation and speed are our main priorities now. We are in what some call 'beta phase', which means not everything works as smoothly as we would like. We are obsessed with that. You should see tiny improvements as days pass.
Can I create a planet for corporate use?
Feel free to do so. You can use your planet for whatever you like as long as it conforms with the terms of use, which are mostly common sense.
Does Planetaki work on an iPhone?
Oh yes! It's the best way to keep up to date with the web while you are on the move. We are planning on creating an iphone version for improved browsing, though. Work in progress.
Can I classify websites into folders?
Sorry but no. Planets are meant to be a tool for periodic reading, not for storage. We understand your need but we suggest you try other tools like Google Reader or Bloglines which may suit your needs better than Planetaki.
How many days you keep the information?
We currently keep each item for seven days. We assume you check your planet at least once a week.
I cannot email more than 10 things a day. Why?
We are afraid of spam robots who may use Planetaki as their catapult to send crap to nice people like you. By limiting the number of emails to 10 we are not attractive to them and don't have to bother you with annoying captchas and dumb questions.
How can I change the background image of my planet?
You can choose an image of your choice and upload it from the preferences section. There are also three pre-defined styles ready to work without any image upload.
I am a webmaster and I want to change the image associated with my website. How can I do that?
Send us a png, gif or jpeg image at 48x48 pixels and we will upload it as fast as we can so your readers see them next to your content. Don't forget to give us the url of your website.
Isn't Planetaki a plain RSS Feed Reader?
What? RSS? Feed reader? These are strange words ;-)
We just know about planets, tools for reading your favorite websites all in one place.
