Dan Meyer's infographically translated statistics about the year 2009 shows an original and animated view on the now popular practice of publishing one's life as data. It allows you to discover which people you interact the most and what they're talking about. It's also an interesting way to find relevant people to follow.
The visualization runs in your browser and displays data from the Twitter API. It loads each user's Twitter status updates (tweets) and finds the people and hashtags they talked about the most. Clicking a user will display their network of mentions as well as details from their profile. The lines drawn between nodes become thicker the more users mention each other. This draws the viewer's attention to potential discussions and interesting debates. Hovering over an edge also reveals the exact number of mentions. You can also search for friends by typing their Twitter usernames into the search box.
The data is displayed using Constellation Framework - a graph visualization library for Actionscript.

The Envisioning Development Toolkit is a set of teaching tools designed to help experts and laypeople communicate. Advocates, policy wonks, community board members, developers, and others can use the tools as a centerpiece for workshops and conversations that describe and clarify problems and propose and communicate solutions.

The Toolkit is visual, tactile, and interactive. Each tool translates abstract concepts and language into straightforward activities and physical objects that let people learn by looking, doing, and listening to each other. Participants teach themselves and others as they use the tools. Concepts and jargon turn out to be less complicated than they seem.

“The Pool is an environment of giant, concentric circles created from interactive, wireless circular pads. By entering the pool, you enter a world where play and collaborative movement can create a cascading effect of swirling light and color .

Each pad in The Pool is its own wireless controller. All of the 120 pads communicate and listen to each other in an organic network formed in the same way people interact. The Pool has no single master computer and does not use a router to route or control connections. Each pad is independent, and simultaneously interacts and listens to its environment based on user feedback.”
